I’ve got to be honest, I’m not really a fan of the whole selfie trend. But a company called Soloshot has come out with an amazing and super-useful camera “robot” that makes selfies really useful.
The SOLOSHOT2 is a pan/tilt robotic head that you mount between your tripod and (almost) any camera, which pairs with a small radio tag you place on your subject. The camera will then follow the subject’s movements and record them in video or photo burst mode, with a range of up to 2000 feet, with perfectly smooth panning/tilting motion, and all this for $399. Just look at the example video below, and you’ll see it’s amazing.
The applications for this are manifold, from putting together the perfect sports demo reel and taking video of an athlete’s form for training purposes, to “Photog Force Multiplication,” allowing one photographer to shoot many subjects and formats simultaneously using multiple paired tags. Just imagine going to your kid’s game and letting this thing take care of the video, allowing you to just watch the game. That alone may be worth the price.
