Bokeh is a funny thing. It’s the out-of-focus background effect you get using a wide lens aperture, if you’re not familiar with the term. Sometimes I think bokeh is over used when people get their hands on their first sub F4 lens, at which point they go crazy trying take every shot at 2.8 or 1.4. I know I did. But sometimes, it can do great things for a photo. In this photo, I was shooting straight down at a flower, and all the out-of-focus colors in the background are other flowers beneath the subject. In this photo, I think the bokeh really worked, and is the reason this photo is so pleasing, at least to me. Even a broken clock is right twice a day, right?
